On 125th Anniversary of Establishment of Moscow Art Theater


On October 26, 1898, the Moscow Art Theater was established. This stronghold of Russian drama school became a venue where outstanding directors, writers and actor demonstrated their talents, including Constantin Stanislavsky, Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko, Valeriy Bryusov, Constantin Simoniov, Ivan Moskvin, Angelina Stepanova and others.

In 1987 the theater was split into two: the Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre and the Gorky Moscow Art Theatre. Both continue entertaining Russian audiences and foreign guests with productions of classical and modern plays.
